DeKALB, Ill. (Aug. 15, 2010) -
Sarah Hagen had a goal and an assist as four different Panthers scored to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team to a 4-0 win at Northern Illinois Sunday evening.
In addition to Hagen, Keara Thompson, Makenzie Gillaspie and Laurel Ragalie added goals in UWM's final exhibition match of the preseason. The Panthers finished 1-0-1 after a 0-0 draw at Creighton last Sunday.
"We got everybody some good playing time and saw people in some different places," UWM head coach Michael Moynihan said. "It was good a good game for us. We got everything we could out of it to prepare us for the season coming up."
Thompson chipped the keeper for the eventual game-winner at the 13-minute mark. Fourteen minutes later Hagen knocked in a shot from 10 yards out to make it a 2-0 game. She then found Ragalie just before halftime to give Milwaukee a 3-0 halftime lead.
The scoring was capped in the 57th minute when Gillaspie blasted a shot from 30 yards out on an assist from Heather Roadhouse.
The Panthers outshot the Huskies 12-5, putting eight shots on frame compared to none for NIU. Jamie Forbes and Gabby Guaiumi split time in goal for Milwaukee, but were not called on to make a save.
UWM now kicks off the 2010 regular season this week with a road trip to Ohio State Friday and Notre Dame Sunday.
