CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Seniors Jordan Herbert and Lucas Annen combined on a five-hit shutout to give the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team a 6-0 victory over the University of Dayton Sunday at the Riverview Inn Invitational. After falling in their opener Friday, the Panthers (4-5) blanked the Flyers (4-8) for their third-consecutive victory on the weekend.

Herbert (1-1) got the start and worked the first five innings, allowing just two hits. He came up with big outs when necessary, stranding UD runners on third in each of the first three innings. Annen was just as effective, working the final four frames in recording his first save of the season. He retired 10 of the final 11 batters to close it out.

"Jordan really gave us a quality start today," Milwaukee head coach Scott Doffek said. "He made some critical pitches early in the game to get out of a few jams. Then, Lucas came in and did the same thing. They both put up zeroes on the scoreboard after we plated a few runs to hold the momentum and it made the difference."

Junior Cole Kraft led the offense with a 3-for-4 day, tying the school record with three doubles in a game. He doubled to leadoff the contest and was driven in by senior Dan Buchholz and the Panthers never trailed.

Milwaukee would go on to add two in the fourth on an RBI-single from freshman Jonathan Capasso and a run-scoring double from Kraft. Two innings later, Kraft would score on a passed ball to make it 4-0.

UWM then closed out the scoring in the seventh on an RBI-single from junior Chad Pierce and another from Capasso.

Senior Ben Long finished 2-for-4 and scored twice and senior Tim Patzman also had a pair of hits. Capasso ended the day with two hits and two RBI's. Joe Gayda had two of his team's five hits and also walked twice in reaching base four times to pace Dayton.

Milwaukee is off until next weekend, traveling to Fayetteville, Ark., to take on nationally-ranked Arkansas. The Panthers and Razorbacks begin a three-game set Friday at 3 p.m.
