Post-Game Wrap-up

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Dec. 1, 2010) - Raisa Taylor hit two free throws with 6.6 seconds remaining in overtime, as Bradley scored the final six points of the game and knocked off the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team, 72-70, Wednesday evening at the Klotsche Center.

"(We are) disappointed," UWM head coach Sandy Botham said. "Give Bradley all the credit in the world. We knew we were an evenly-matched team and it would come down to mentality and Bradley beat us. Mentally, they did what they needed to do and, mentally, we had breakdowns. They came in, stayed focus and poised. To me, we beat ourselves with the mistakes we made."

The Panthers (3-3) led by four at 70-66 on a 30-foot three-pointer from Angela Rodriguez as the shot clock sounded with 1:32 to play in overtime. They would not score again, as the Braves (4-3) got four-straight points from Kelly Frings to tie it and won it with Taylor's free throws.

UWM then got the ball down the court, but could not get a clean shot off before the buzzer.

Rodriguez led Milwaukee with a career-best 25 points, knocking down six 3-pointers and coming away with three steals on the night. Lindsay Laur topped the 20-point mark for the third-straight game, finishing with 21 to go with eight rebounds and two steals.

Courtney Lindfors added nine points before fouling out with 2:51 remaining in regulation. Sammy Theut chipped in seven points, but made a larger impact with nine assists and seven steals.

Latasha Hollingshed led Bradley with 13 points and 20 rebounds. Two other Braves scored in double-figures, while another three players finished with nine points and another had eight. Katie Yohn had 12 points and Kelly Frings 10.

BU also scored the final six points of regulation to get to the extra frame. Yohn hit her first three-pointer of the game with 46 seconds to go to make it 62-59. Then, with the ball back and 3.1 seconds to go, she caught an inbounds pass and was fouled on her three-point attempt with 1.4 seconds on the clock.

After she converted all three charity tosses, with Panther timeouts between each, Laur sent a long inbounds pass that bounced the length of the floor. Sami Tucker reached the ball right at the basket, but her lob drew iron and the team's remained deadlocked.

The game featured drama even before the final moments of the game. The Braves jumped out to a 20-10 lead over the first 12 minutes of the game before Milwaukee really got its offense on track. After Lindfors hit a three throw, Laur followed with a three-pointer to start what became a 21-5 run. By the time Jenilee Klomstad finished a lay-up from Rodriguez in the final minute of the half, the Panthers led 31-25.

UWM came out of halftime with that same lead and the two teams traded scoring possessions for the opening minutes of the second half until Rodriguez hit a three-point to give the Panthers their largest lead of the game at 48-37 at the 10:37 mark. They held off the Braves for much of the remainder of the half, still holding a six-point lead in the final minute before Yohn's run.

Milwaukee shot 38.3 percent for the game, knocking down a season-high nine 3-pointers on 23 attempts, and made 15-of-18 at the free throw line. The Panthers came away with 16 steals in forcing Bradley into 23 turnovers. They also had 18 assists to 19 turnovers of their own.

BU's finished the game shooting 37.7 percent and was just 7-of-26 from beyond the arc. The Braves did shoot 19-for-24 at the free throw line, missing just three free throws after halftime. They controlled the boards behind Hollingshed, forging a 47-33 rebound advantage and coming away with 17 offensive rebounds.

The Panthers return to action Saturday, hosting their second-straight Missouri Valley Conference opponent in Northern Iowa. The Panthers and Panthers tip off at 2 p.m. at the Klotsche Center.
