MILWAUKEE - Lindsay Laur scored 18 points and had 17 rebounds to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team to a 76-60 win over UW-La Crosse Saturday in an exhibition game at the Klotsche Center.

The Panthers led by eight points at halftime and then steadily pulled away in the second 20 minutes. UWM wound up shooting 54.8 percent from the floor for the game.

Freshman Courtney Lindfors actually led Milwaukee in scoring with 19 points, while freshman Angela Rodriguez added 12 points.

Laur also had six assists and six steals as part of her overall effort, while Anne Breland pitched-in with 11 points off the bench.

Lindsey Litrenta had 10 points to lead the Eagles, who shot just 36.5 percent from the field.

Milwaukee fell behind 11-3 in the first four minutes but three-straight three-pointers by Breland gave the Panthers the lead for good. The advantage hit double-digits for the first time at 30-19 on a Laur layin with eight minutes left and grew to 34-19 on another Laur layup with five minutes remaining. LaCrosse stayed in the game, though, scoring 11 of the final 15 points of the half to pull within 38-30 at the break.

The Eagles pulled within 40-33 early in the second half but UWM used an 11-2 run to take control of the game. A layup by Rodriguez made it 51-35 with 14 minutes remaining and the lead never went under double digits after that. Milwaukee did wind up leading by as many as 19 points, with a jumper by Lindfors making it 74-55 with 3:30 remaining.

UWM opens the regular season next Saturday afternoon when nationally-ranked Oklahoma visits the Klotsche Center for a 1 p.m. contest.
