Arizona State Completes Weekend Sweep Of UWM

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State scored in each of the first four innings Sunday afternoon en route to an 11-0 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team at Packard Stadium. Five Sun Devil (4-0) pitchers combined to blank the Panthers (0-4) on the day to complete the weekend sweep in the season-opening series for each team.

The UWM offense recorded four hits, with senior Ben Long picking adding at least a hit for the third-straight game. Junior Shaun Wegner, sophomore Cole Kraft and freshman Paul Hoenecke had the others. Carlos Ramirez had two hits and three RBI's to pace ASU.

Senior Jordan Herbert (0-1) took the loss, striking out two in his 3.1 innings of work. Mitchell Lambson (1-0) earned the win, striking out four in three innings.

The Panthers return to action this weekend, heading to Florida for the Jacksonville Invitational. UWM opens the event Friday with a game against Michigan, starting at 12 p.m. CST. It will also play Akron Saturday and the host Dolphins Sunday.
