Panthers Knock Off WIU For Second-Straight Win

MEQUON, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team won five of six singles matches to capture a 5-2 win over Western Illinois Saturday night at Highlander Elite.

The Panthers (7-5) were in control of each of the singles matches they won and came close to sweeping all nine matches on the evening.

UWM's seven wins are its most since the 1999-2000 season, when the Panthers finished 8-10.

Kelly Drvaric and Ali O'Neal each won their singles match before pairing up for a doubles win. Drvaric downed Kim Lennartsson at #1 singles, while O'Neal claimed an easy 6-0, 6-1 win at #4 singles. The tandem's doubles win came in the #2 slot, beating Constanza Camacho and Stephanie Baumer, 8-6.

UWM won three other singles matches. Kari Kastenholz claimed a 6-0, 6-2 win at #2 singles, while Ashley Schoneman captured a 6-3, 6-3 victory at #3 singles. Lauren Fenley also won at #6 singles, pulling out a 6-3, 6-1 win.

The Panthers now wrap up their busy weekend Sunday afternoon, hosting Bradley at 1 p.m.
