MILWAUKEE - Pounce will now be prowling the sidelines at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee athletic events.

Pounce was introduced as UWM's new character mascot at Panther Madness on Friday and again at the Panther Prowl Sunday. UWM's longtime mascot character, Victor E. Panther, has graduated from the University and was recognized by the Alumni Association at both events.

The new Panther character was designed by Olympus Flag and Banner, with funding for the project provided by the UWM Student Association.

Pounce may make some appearances at athletic events this week, and then will return to Olympus to have its name and some additional logos added to its costume. Pounce is then expected to return Nov. 1 when the UWM men's basketball team takes on UW-Parkside.

Eventually, the Pounce character will appear on merchandise at the UWM Bookstore.
