The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee used solid performances by its newcomers and a strong effort by a veteran to claim six more wins on day two of the Bradley Invitational.
In all, the Panthers won five singles matches and one doubles contest. In addition to a number of wins by new faces on the Panther roster, sophomore Samantha Drews claimed an impressive two-set win over Erin Krubeck of Bradley.
Other singles winners on the day included freshmen Kari Kastenholz (7-5, 6-3 over Yana Meinert of Western Illinois), Ashley Clark (6-2, 6-0 over Courtney Brooks of WIU) and Kelly Drvaric (6-4, 6-0 over Jessica Drake of WIU). Ali O'Neal also caputured a win over Andrea Courtney of Southern Illinois when Courtney retired in the second set.
The doubles win came from the tandem of O'Neal and Drvaric, which downed Charlotte Gibbons and Christine Vogelgesang of Cleveland State, 8-5.
Including Saturday's competition, UWM claimed a total of 13 match wins, with five coming in doubles play and eight occuring in singles play.
The Panthers return to action later this month at the Ball State Invitational.
