MILWAUKEE, Wis. (April 28, 2006) - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team set 13 batters to the plate and tallied nine runs in the fifth inning to break open a 2-2 game and defeat Wright State, 11-8, Friday afternoon at Henry Aaron Field. With the win, Milwaukee (20-19, 10-9 Horizon League) pushed its winning streak to five-straight.

Seven different Panthers collected multiple hits, sophomore Jesse Hart, who finished 3-for-4. Freshman Dan Buchholz finished with a pair of run-scoring hits (2-for-4) and four RBIs.

Jeremy Hamilton and Ross Oeder each went 4-for-5 for the Raiders (20-18,10-9 Horizon), while Hamilton drove in four with a pair of home runs.

After the Raiders had tied the game at two apiece in the top of the fifth, the Panthers' first 11 batters of the inning reached base, with the first nine scoring. Hart led off with a walk and scored a bases-loaded single by junior Ross McCoy, the UWM's third-straight hit. Senior Matt Curran walked to re-load the bases and junior Rob Brockel knocked in another run with a single.

Two batters later, after an error and fielder's choice plated two, Buchholz hit a two-run home run to cap the scoring. All nine starters scored runs in the frame.

Wright State tacked on single runs in the next two innings, before fighting back with four runs in the ninth to pull within three. Nick Alsop had an RBI single in ninth and Hamilton followed shortly after with his second home run of the game, a three-run shot to center.

Senior Aaron Sorenson evened his record at 3-3 by pitching seven strong innings for the Panthers, scattering 12 hits and allowing four runs. He struck out one and did not walk a batter, while freshman Tom Zimmerman added a scoreless inning of relief. Robert Barrett (6-1) suffered his first loss of the season, allowing nine runs, eight earned, in four innings of work.

Milwaukee wasted little time jumping on the scoreboard, plating single run in the bottom half of the first. Senior Joe Nowicki hit a two-out double and came around to score when senior Zak Rivera singled to right. WSU tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth, before Buchholz broke the tie in UWM's half of the frame with a run-scoring single.

The series concludes with a doubleheader Saturday at Henry Aaron Field. Game one will get underway at 11 a.m. The start time was moved up two hours in order to avoid inclement weather
