ORLANDO, Fla. -
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team won all six singles matches and all three doubles contests to claim a convincing 7-0 win over SUNY-New Paltz Thursday.
The Panthers (4-9) won both matches on their spring trip to Orlando.
In singles play, none of UWM's six players were ever threatened. Margie Van Lieshout won 6-0, 6-1 at #1 singles while Traci Litscher claimed a 6-0, 6-2 victory at #2 singles. Lauren Fenley and Elizabeth Angel were equally impressive, with Fenley winning 6-2, 6-2 at #3 singles and Angel clinching a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #4 singles. Samantha Drews and Shayna Illingworth wrapped up the singles sweep for the Panthers, with Drews winning 6-1, 6-4 at #5 singles while Illingworth claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 singles.
In doubles play, Milwaukee was also in control in all three matches. The most impressive play came at #3 doubles, where Angel and Fenley claimed an 8-0 win.
The Panthers return to action April 7, starting a stretch of three-straight Horizon League matches in Ohio with a contest against Wright State.
