OMAHA, Neb. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team claimed an impressive 7-0 victory over the University of Missouri-Kansas City this weekend, its second win of the season.

The Panthers did also fall to Creighton, 6-1, in their other match of the weekend in Omaha.

UWM was never really challenged by UMKC, as the Panthers dominated in every match. Traci Litscher claimed a 6-1, 6-0 win at #1 singles while Shayna Illingworth was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at #2 singles. Lauren Fenley was just as successful in the third spot, capturing a 6-2, 6-1 victory, while Elizabeth Angel helped cinch the team win with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #4 singles. Samantha Drews tallied a 6-1, 6-0 win at the #5 spot and the Panthers also claimed a point at #6 singles by default.

In doubles action, Drews and Illingworth won 8-2 in the #1 slot, while Litscher and Angel won 8-0 at #2 doubles. UWM also won the #3 doubles match by default.

Against the Bluejays, Angel claimed the lone win for Milwaukee, capturing a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Lisa Ludwig at #5 singles.

"We really played very well against UMKC," head coach Matt McCaskill said. "Margie (Van Lieshout) was out all weekend with the flu, so everyone else had to move up a spot and they handled it well. Getting a win each of the last two weekends has really helped the team gain confidence and improve its play."

Angel's two wins on the weekend already give her 12 on the season. That marks the sixth most wins in a single season by a singles player in UWM tennis history.

UWM returns to action next weekend, hosting UIC and Butler in Horizon League action.
