WHITEWATER, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team received solid performances across the board in claiming a pair of dual meet wins Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers beat UW-Whitewater, 8-1, in their first contest of the day before knocking off UW-La Crosse, 6-3, in their second contest.

Freshman Ali O'Neal and sophomore Samantha Drews both posted undefeated records on the day, with O'Neal going 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles while Drews went 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles. Kari Kastenholz, Ashley Schoneman and Lauren Fenley also won two singles matches apiece.

"There were a lot of positives and we got good performances across the board," head coach Matt McCaskill said. "Whitewater and La Crosse are both good Division III teams that are well-coached. They are teams we should be beating, but we haven't done so in the past. So, these two wins should help us turn the corner. It is nice to be getting some wins and hopefully we'll continue to get better."

Three of the singles matches with UW-La Crosse were highly competitive. Kastenholz pulled out her win at #1 singles with an 11-9 tiebreaker win, while Clark lost at #2 singles by the same 11-9 tiebreaker score. Traci Litscher also lost a tiebreaker (10-7) in falling at #4 singles. Otherwise, UWM controlled most of the matches, with Schoneman and Drews losing just four sets combined in their victories.

Against UW-Whitewater, the Panthers won every singles match and UWM's players dropped just one set along the way. Kastenholz was impressive at #1 singles in claiming a 6-2, 6-2 win, while O'Neal bounced back from an 0-6 loss in the first set of her match at #2 singles to win 6-4, 10-6.

The win was UWM's first-ever over UW-Whitewater, while it was the first meeting on record between UWM and UW-La Crosse.
