The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team won four more singles matches and a doubles contest on the final day of the Chicago State Invitational.
Highlighting the day was a win by Ashley Schoneman over Ali Cox of Evansville, 6-2, 6-2, in the consolation singles final.
Also on day three of the event, Traci Litscher fell in the Flight B singles final to Ade Omodele-Lucien of the University of Chicago, 6-2, 6-1. In other consolation singles matches, Kari Kastenholz downed Jenna O'Dell of Ferris State, 8-2; Lauren Fenley (UWM) beat Stacy Brown of Ferris State, 8-2; and Ali O'Neal claimed a victory over Samantha Islas of Chicago State, 8-0
In UWM's only doubles action of the day, the Panthers claimed a 2-1 win over Chicago State. The second doubles team of O;Neal and Schoneman claimed an 8-0 win, while Litscher and Samantha Drews won by default at third doubles.
"I thought the team did a great job and they continue to show huge improvement over last year," UWM head coach Matt McCaskill said. "We definitely have done some things this fall that we can build on. We'll have a few people at the ITA Regionals next weekend and then we'll get ready for the spring."
Next weekend's ITA Regionals will include Kastenholz in the singles competition and the tandem of Kastenholz and Ashley Clark in the doubles draw.
