Box Score

STILLWATER, Okla. - Thomas Crowley held the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team to just three hits while striking out nine in eight innings to lead Oklahoma State University to an 11-0 victory over the Panthers, Friday night in Stillwater, Okla. With the loss, Milwaukee falls to 2-5 on the young seasons, while the Cowboys improved to 12-6.

Crowley held UWM hitless for the first four innings in picking up his fourth victory in five decisions on the year. Junior Aaron Sorenson got the start for Milwaukee, and fell to 1-2 on the season.

After walking just one batter in his first 12 innings as a Panther, Sorenson struggled with his command all day, walking seven in 5.1 innings. The transfer from Lawrence University struck out five and had held OSU to just one hit through three innings before surrendering a two-out home run to Jeff Parrish in the fourth inning.

Sophomore Ross McCoy, junior Mike Goetz and sophomore Nick Wichser accounted for the three Milwaukee hits. McCoy's base knock came in the form of his fifth double of the season to lead off the fourth inning. McCoy was caught trying to steal third, while Goetz and Wichser followed with singles in the next two innings and were left stranded.

The Cowboys struck again for runs in each of the next four innings, including two in the fifth, four in the sixth, three more in the seventh inning and one in the eighth.

Junior Leroy Pederson relieved Sorenson following his seventh walk, and was struck for four runs on six hits in one inning of work. Sophomore Mike Rauwerdink pitched a hitless inning, surrendering an unearned run, and junior Jed Dolske closed the game out, getting the final out of the eighth.

UWM's weekend series at Oklahoma State continues Saturday at 1 p.m. when sophomore Robert Michalkiewicz (0-1, 2.45 ERA) gets the start for Milwaukee, while Adam Daniels (3-1, 4.67) will get the ball for the Cowboys. The series concludes with a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
