Freshman Bobby Steinsdorfer gave up one run in six innings of work and picked up his first collegiate victory as Dartmouth College posted a 4-1 win over the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in college baseball action here Sunda (Mar. 21).
Steinsdorfer surrendered just three hits and three walks while striking out four in his outing, which was his first career start.
After the teams exchanged single runs in the first inning, the game remained tied at 1-1 until the top of the sixth. In the sixth, junior Marty Hebert singled to plate classmate Brian Zurhellen and put the Big Green (5-3) ahead.
Dartmouth added two insurance runs in the seventh. Zurhellen and junior Jeff Speights each had RBI singles to make the score 4-1. Juniors Mike Madson and Nick Peay combined for three scoreless innings of relief. Peay notched his second save of the season.
Zurhellen went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Hebert and seniors Ed Lucas and Patrick Nailer also recorded two hits.
With the loss, UWM fell to 3-7 on the season. The same two teams square off Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Bradenton.
