Box Score

CHICAGO - The University of Illinois at Chicago used a four-run fifth inning and a three-run sixth inning to roll to a 13-2 rout of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Friday night.

The Flames (34-14, 14-4 Horizon) claimed a 2-0 lead after one inning before putting the game away thanks to their offensive outburst in the middle frames.

UWM (23-22, 11-9) could manage just six hits and single runs in the eighth and ninth innings against UIC starter Ryan Martin (6-0).

Geoff Lefeber (4-5) allowed eight earned runs and 11 hits in six-plus innings for the Panthers.

With the win, UIC moved to within one win of claiming the Horizon League regular-season championship.

The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
