Panthers Silenced By Wright State

April 13, 2003

Box Score

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team could only muster two hits against Wright State starter Casey Abrams, as they dropped their first league series of the season with a 4-0 loss Sunday afternoon in Dayton. Abrams struck out 12 for the Raiders (12-20, 3-5), who took three of four games from Milwaukee over the weekend.

The only blemish on Abram's record was a two-out walk to Troy Doering in the sixth inning. Doering advanced to third when Marcellus Dawson followed with a double, but both runners were left stranded after an inning-ending strike out. That was as close as the Panthers (11-12, 1-3) would come to scoring.

Starter Aaron Bushong (1-4) threw seven strong innings, striking out four and walking none, to get the loss. Ben Stanczyk added a perfect inning in relief.

Matt Alexander collected the only other Panther hit with a single in the second inning. Dave Pudlosky's 17-game hitting streak came to an end, while Doering's walk marked the 58th consecutive game in which he has reached base safely.

UWM returns to action Wednesday afternoon, playing a single game at the University of Minnesota. The Panthers then return to league play when Butler visits Henry Aaron Field Friday to start a four-game series.
