Box Score
HOMESTEAD, Fla. -
Rider scored the game-winning run with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning to hand the UWM baseball team a 6-5 loss Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers (3-3), who had a three-game winning streak snapped, had scored two runs in the sixth and a single run in the ninth to force extra innings. But in the 10th, Rider loaded the bases with one out before Scott Rich drove in the game-winner with a single off Matt Freisleben, who entered the game with two runners on and no one out.
John Vanden Berg had four hits, including a game-tying RBI double in the ninth. Steve Guden added two hits and two RBI for the Panthers.
Cory Kleeba worked 6 2/3 innings in relief for UWM, allowing just two runs but absorbing the loss.
UWM continues its Florida trip Monday, facing Rider at 1:15 and Kansas State at 6 p.m. The trip concludes Wednesday with a 6 p.m. contest against defending national champion Miami (Fla.).
