HOMESTEAD, Fla. - John Vanden Berg collected three hits and Ben Stanczyk recorded his first collegiate win as UWM scored a 9-8 win over Cornell Saturday night.

Stanczyk went 2 1/3 innings in relief while Matt Freisleben recorded a strike out to end the game, escaping a bases-loaded situation and giving the Panthers (3-3) their third straight win.

Vanden Berg's big hit was a two-run double in a three-run eighth for UWM, which also got two hits apiece from Ben Beno and Matt Alexander and a two-run double from Charlie Reschke.

UWM continues its trip Sunday with a game against Rider at noon.
