Quintin Oldenburg pitched seven scoreless innings against Radford and Steve Guden cracked a game-winning single against Chicago State as UWM opened its spring trip to Florida with a pair of victories.
The Panthers (2-3) beat Radford, 2-0, and Chicago State, 10-9.
In the opener against Radford (4-6), Oldenburg was perfect through five innings and allowed just three hits and one walk in his seven innings of work. Rob Erickson recorded the save while Jeff Pitrof collected the game-winning RBI.
Against Chicago State, the Panthers rallied behind three hits, including a home run, from Shane Davis. Matt Freisleben pitched three innings in relief to collect the win, while Guden drove home the game-winner with a bases-loaded single off the wall in the bottom of the ninth. Ben Beno also added three hits for the Panthers.
UWM continues its trip with a game against Cornell Saturday night.
