John VandenBerg hit a walk-off, two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to push UWM to a 5-3 victory over Cleveland State in game one of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Henry Aaron Field.

UWM won game two, 9-3, and now stands a perfect 7-0 in Midwestern Collegiate Conference play.

In game one, the Panthers trailed 3-1 entering the bottom of the sixth inning before rallying. Steve Guden hit a two-run home run in the sixth to tie the game, before the Panthers won the game in the seventh. Scott Gillitzer reached on an error with one out in the inning before VandenBerg's home run to left ended the game.

Eric Goerdt went the distance to claim his third win of the season.

In game two, UWM scored three times in the first inning and were never seriously threatened. Darin Haugom hit a three-run home run, and the Panthers put the game away with five runs in the third inning.

Rob Erickson went the first five innings to claim his second win of the season.

UWM (19-11, 7-0 MCC) and Cleveland State (11-21, 0-7 MCC) meet for the final game of the series Sunday afternoon at noon.
