Sept. 17, 2000

MILWAUKEE-Playing to a 2-2 draw in overtime against Oral Roberts on Sunday, the UWM women's soccer team ended their trip to Oklahoma with a loss and a tie to stand at 3-4-1 on the season.

Sophomore forward Kristin Munyon scored a goal for the Panthers in the 28th minute and set up midfielder Katie Kubacki's goal in the second half. Leading the game 2-1 with about two minutes left in regulation time, UWM was outraged when the Golden Eagles scored a goal to tie the game. Attempting to catch a cross, goalkeeper Mary Duffy was knocked out of the play by an Oral Roberts player, who then kicked in the bouncing ball to send the match into overtime.

The controversy continued in overtime for the Panthers as junior midfielder Julie Ruma scored a goal that was called back by the officials. Ruma ran on to an open ball in the box and finished it, but was then called for obstructing ORU's goalkeeper, who was nowhere near the initial play.

"I thought our team played really well. I'm proud that we kept our composure and played through it all until the end. It's a tough one. The result was not indicative of anything that happened on the field," said Moynihan
