Box Score

Cleveland - Scott Gillitzer hit four home runs and Andy Neary and Quintin Oldenburg each pitched complete games as the UWM baseball team swept a Midwestern Collegiate Conference doubleheader from Cleveland State. UWM won the first game, 7-2, and the second game, 11-1.

The Panthers, 28-21 overall and 12-5 in the MCC, have a magic number of one game to win the MCC title outright. UWM has one game remaining and second-place UIC has two games remaining.

In game one, UWM starter Neary allowed just three hits as he struck out 10 and walked none as he tied the UWM record for wins in a season (8) and in a career (20). He retired 17 of the last 18 batters he faced.

Scott Gillitzer paced the offense with a pair of home runs. He finished with three RBIs. Steve Tylke had two doubles and two RBIs in the game.

Game two starter Oldenburg allowed seven hits and struck out six. The one run he allowed came in the seventh inning.

The Panthers' offense was given a jolt in the fifth inning when UWM hit three home runs on the first three pitches of the inning. Darin Haugom, Steve Tylke and Gillitzer had blasts in the inning. Both Tylke and Gillitzer had two home runs in the game. Todd Grafenauer also added a home run in the sixth inning, the first career roundtripper for the junior.

The same two teams play a single game on Sunday in Cleveland.
