Panthers Fall in Cleveland

Cleveland - The UWM baseball team was held to six hits as the Panthers fell to Cleveland State, 9-4, in a Midwestern Collegiate Conference game on Friday.

Cleveland State starter Jerry Long improved to 8-4 as he went the complete game. He struck out 11 batters and allowed three earned runs.

Panther starter Chad Sadowski fell to 6-7 on the season. He pitched into the seventh inning and allowed five earned runs on 12 hits. He struck out four and walked one.

Cleveland State took a 6-0 lead after four innings. Steve Tylke scored on an error in the fifth inning for the Panthers first run. UWM scored another run in the seventh when Matt Houk's single scored Tylke, but Cleveland State scored three in the bottom of the frame.

Todd Ludwig hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning for the final score.

The Panthers are now 10-5 in the MCC, a half game ahead of UIC.

UWM and Cleveland State play a doubleheader on Saturday.
