Indianapolis, Ind. - The UWM baseball team extended its winning streak to eight games with a doubleheader sweep over MCC rival Butler, 9-2, 11-5, on Sunday.
UWM has now won 13 of its last 17 games and is 13-12 on the season.
In game one, the Panthers rode a strong outing by Chad Sadowski (4-4) on the mound. The senior pitched a complete game, allowing two earned runs and striking out six batters.
The offense was paced by four batters that tallied two hits. Darin Haugom went 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Brett Huebner, Steve Tylke and J.J. Kotarak also added a pair of hits.
In game two, Andy Neary (5-2) picked up the win by pitching seven innings and allowing three earned runs with six strikeouts.
The offense exploded for eight runs in the third inning to take a lead the team would not relinquish.
Kotarak hit a three-run homer in the game and Todd Ludwig went 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
The teams, which have met in the MCC championship game each of the last two seasons, were picked to finish in a tie on top of the league this year in a preseason poll.
