Milwaukee - The UWM baseball team posted another victory on Wednesday, a 7-4 decision over Chicago State at Henry Aaron Field at Lincoln Park. The win comes a day after a win against No. 15 Nebraska and moves UWM back to .500 on the season (17-17).
Freshman Rob Erickson took advantage of his first collegiate start. He threw six innings, allowing three runs. He struck out 10 batters, a season high for Panther pitchers.
The Cougars were the first to score, when they scored one in the second inning, but the Panthers rallied for two in the bottom half of the inning. J.J. Kotarak's single drove in Steve Tylke and Todd Ludwig stole home. UWM added five runs in the fourth inning. Ludwig, Kotarak and Darin Haugom each had run-scoring doubles in the inning, and Eric Goerdt hit his ninth home run of the season, a two-run blast to left field.
The Cougars scored single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
The Panthers (17-17) play host to UIC for four games this weekend, beginning with a single game at 6 p.m. on Friday at Henry Aaron Field at Lincoln Park.
