Panther Baseball Loses to Nebraska

Lincoln, Neb. - The UWM baseball team lost a pair of games to No. 15 Nebraska on Monday by the scores of 11-0 and 8-5.

In game one, the Panther bats were limited to three hits by Husker starter Jamie Rodrigue, who improved to 6-2 on the season. Darin Haugom had two of the team's hits in the game.

Panther starter Chad Sadowski pitched five innings, allowing five earned runs while striking out four.

In game two, UWM scored a run in the first inning when Haugom walked, stole second and took third on an error. He later scored on Eric Goerdt's groundout.

The Panthers added two more in the fourth for a 3-0 lead. Steve Tylke and J.J. Kotarak had RBI singles in the inning, scoring Sadowksi and Scott Gillitzer.

Nebraska scored four runs in the fifth inning, but UWM responded to tie the game, 4-4, in the seventh. Tylke walked and then scored on Haugom's double. The Panthers took a 5-4 lead in the eighth when Goerdt led off the inning with a single, stole second and scored on Tylke's single. But the Huskers responded with four in the bottom on the eighth for the 8-5 win.

Andy Neary pitched four and two-thirds innings, allowing four earned runs. Eric Goerdt pitched well in relief, but took the loss.

The same two teams play a single game on Tueday.
