The UWM baseball team split a doubleheader against Miami (Ohio) on Sunday to conclude the team's spring trip.
The Panthers went 6-4 on the trip and are 6-12 on the season.
In game one, the Panthers faced Miami's top starter, Nate Tekavec, and lost, 8-2. The Redhawks scored four runs in the second inning and never looked back. UWM scored a run in the fourth inning when Scott Gillitzer drew a leadoff walk and eventually scored on a Steve Tylke single. The Panthers added another run in the sixth when Todd Ludwig doubled advanced on a balk and scored on Brett Huebner's sacrifice fly to right field.
In game two, UWM rebounded for a 7-1 win. Quintin Oldenburg picked up the win by allowing a run in four and two-thirds innings. The Panthers scored a run in the third inning to tie the score, and then added two more runs in the fourth to take the lead for good. Eric Goerdt and Matt Houk each hit two-run home runs in the game. Tylke and Todd Grafenauer each had run-scoring singles.
After playing 10 games in seven days, UWM is off until Wednesday when it travels to Notre Dame.
