MILWAUKEE - The UW-Milwaukee men's basketball team earned its second-straight win Saturday night by drowning Loyola, 92-58. The 34-point thrashing is the second-highest margin of victory for the Panthers this season. UW-Milwaukee, who was picked to finish last in the MCC, improved to 2-1 in conference play, 9-6 overall.

Said junior center Chad Angeli of the preseason predictions, "We looked at (the predictions) and used it as motivation. The character of this team is to come out and give them everything we've got."

The Panthers never trailed in the game after jumping out to a 9-0 lead. UWM kept pressuring the Ramblers and carried a 47-19 score into halftime.

"We play each possession like the score is 0-0," said UWM head coach Bo Ryan. "Good teams just keep playing hard no matter what the score is."

Angeli led all scorers, tying his career high with 24. Freshman Clay Tucker added 23 points, six rebounds, and a career-high six assists. Silvijie Turkovic led the Ramblers with 14 points.

"We expected them to come in a be more hungry," said Tucker. "Our goal was to pick up the defensive intensity and we did."

The Panthers, who tout their best record since the 92-93 campaign, travel to Wright State on Jan. 20 and to Butler on Jan. 22. UW-Milwaukee returns to the Klotsche Center on Jan. 27 to take on defending-MCC champion Detroit.
