Andrew Hatch will be back for fourth second season as Assistant Track and Field Coach for sprints, hurdles, and relays in 2025-26.
In Hatch's third season with Milwaukee, he led the sprints, hurdles, and relays to four Horizon League Championships between the indoor and outdoor seasons. During the indoor season, Dominique Thomas won the 60m dash, and Jaelyn Reeves-Lile won the 200m dash. Then in the outdoor season, Reeves-Lile won the 100m dash and 200m dash and took home Men's Outstanding Running Performer of the Meet, while Natalie Block won both the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles.
Under Hatch's coaching, Natalie Block and Jaelyn Reeves-Lile both qualified for the NCAA West Regional Preliminary Rounds. Block reached the quarterfinals of the 100m and 400m hurdles, eventually advancing to the NCAA Championships in the 400m hurdles.
In Hatch's second season with the program, he continued to raise the bar for Milwaukee sprints, hurdles, and relays. The teams doubled their event championships from 2022-23, collecting 12 across the indoor and outdoor campaigns. During the indoor season, Natalie Block won the 60-meter hurdles and the 400m dash, Dominique Thomas won the 60-meter dash, the women's distance medley relay team won gold, and the men's 4x400-meter relay team topped the podium. At the outdoor championships, Block grabbed wins in the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles, Golden Cotton earned the 'triple crown' by winning the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and 4x100-meter relay, Caleb Henry won the 400-meter dash, and the men's 4x400-meter relay team topped the field.
Hatch also helped Natalie Block and Golden Cotton qualify for the NCAA West Preliminary rounds, where Block reached the second round in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles. She also qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 400-meter hurdles before withdrawing from the meet due to injury.
During his first season with Milwaukee in 2022-23, Hatch helped guide Milwaukee’s sprinters to great success including six individual championships with three each in the indoor and outdoor seasons. During the indoor campaign, Natalie Block won both the 60-meter hurdles and the 400-meter dash, while the women’s distance medley relay team won gold. During the outdoor season, Golden Cotton was a two-time champion in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, while Caleb Henry also took the top spot in the 400-meter dash.
Before making his way to Milwaukee, Hatch spent the previous two seasons as volunteer coach at Iowa, working with the sprinters and hurdlers. With Hatch on staff, the Hawkeyes saw three BIG Ten Men’s Championships, three BIG Ten Individual Championships, 15 national qualifiers, and 10 school records.
“Coach Hatch has had the opportunity to learn from well-respected coaches in our industry, most recently serving as an assistant coach at Iowa under Coach Joey Woody,” noted Milwaukee Head Coach Andrew Basler. “The knowledge Coach Hatch gained under that mentorship, along with his experience as a NCAA Regional sprinter at Illinois State, makes him a great fit to lead our sprinters and hurdlers.”
In addition to coaching two years with the Hawkeyes, Hatch spent time with the Iowa Speed Track Club as well as the Delta Plus Elite Track Club. He holds a USATF Level 2 coaching certification.
Hatch graduated from Illinois State with a bachelor of Kinesiology where he raced four years with the Redbirds sprint team.
