MILWAUKEE – Nadiia Konieva of the Milwaukee women's tennis team was selected as the Under Armour Horizon League Tennis Singles Player of the Week, announced by the Horizon League on Wednesday.
 
The award is the first in singles play for Konieva in her career.
 
It also marks the third weekly award claimed by the team this season. Nel Van Hout (Singles Feb. 18) and the tandem of Konieva and Sara Simonova (Doubles Feb. 18) also were recognized with weekly accolades.
 
Konieva went a perfect 2-0 at No. 2 singles, playing a key role as the Panthers defeated the top two teams from the 2026 Horizon League preseason poll in back-to-back days this weekend.
 
She clinched the win in the victory over Youngstown State Friday, coming from behind to earn a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Lorena Cedeno for MKE's fourth point of the 5-2 decision. It also helped snap what was an eight-match winning streak YSU had in the series.
 
On Saturday, she was playing in the final deciding match and did it again, overcoming an early deficit to take down CSU's Anna Mancino 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to give the Panthers the thrilling 4-3 win.
