Peterson Pitcher of the Week 4-6-2026

Sunday Shutout Start Powers Peterson to Weekly Recognition

April 13, 2026

INDIANAPOLIS – The Horizon League announced that Milwaukee starting pitcher Riley Peterson has been selected as the league's Pitcher of the Week following a strong outing against Oakland on Sunday afternoon.

Peterson pitched six shutout innings in the series clincher against the Golden Grizzlies, scattering three hits and one walk while striking out three batters.

Sunday's outing extended a recent run of success for Peterson, who has allowed just one earned run over his last 18 innings over three starts. The left-hander pitched five hitless innings and struck out eight against Butler on Mar. 28, then followed that perfomance with a career-best nine strikeouts over seven innings in the team's win over Youngstown State on Apr. 4.

For the season, Peterson has thrown a career-high 35 1/3 innings and recorded a career-best 42 strikeouts. He has already matched his career-high in wins with three, equaling his total from the 2025 campaign. Opponents are hitting .273 against Peterson this season over nine outings, including eight starts.

For his career, Peterson has an 8-8 record with two saves and has a career 6.35 earned run average, along with 92 strikeouts over 90 2/3 innings.

This is the first time in Peterson's career that he has been named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week and makes him the second Panther to earn a weekly honor in 2026. On Mar. 16, Dylan O'Connell was named Batter of the Week by the conference.

Peterson becomes the first pitcher to earn weekly honors since Gavin Theis did so on May 13 of last season. Theis was a two-time Pitcher of the Week in 2025, while Aric Ehmke also earned recognition in early April a season ago.

Milwaukee returns to action Thursday afternoon, hosting Northern Kentucky at 3:00 p.m. at Franklin Field.
