CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Milwaukee baseball team fell to the host Southeast Missouri State on Sunday afternoon, concluding the weekend series at Capaha Field.

The Redhawks scored early and often, taking a 4-0 lead in the first inning while recording 11 hits and drawing 10 walks against Milwaukee pitching.

"We got outplayed and outcoached all weekend long and that repeated itself today," said head coach
Shaun Wegner. "Credit to Coach Sawyers, his staff and their ballclub."

Down 6-0, the Panthers broke through as
Dylan O'Connell had a solo home run to break up the shutout against Southeast Missouri starter Andrew Carroll.

The Redhawks scored the next six runs and opened a 12-1 lead heading into the seventh.

Bradyn Horn reached on a two-out single and eventually scored on a double by
Joey Spence before the final out of the game was recorded.

"I feel as though this can be a tipping point for our team as we head into conference play next weekend," added Wegner. "The first part of the season is really to find out who you have, what roles can be defined, and then find a way to really dominate those roles. Unfortunately, I think we are still trying to separate some of those things out and we need to find out quickly."

Riley Peterson went three-plus innings, before
Matthew Mueller and
Lucas Watson finished the fourth inning. Watson ended the game throwing 1 2/3 innings hitless innings.

Carroll improved to 2-1 on the season, strikeout out four Panthers as he tossed the compete seven innings.

Milwaukee will visit Purdue on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. (CT).
