YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Four players reached double figures for Youngstown State as the Penguins earned a Horizon League victory over Milwaukee on Thursday evening at the Beeghly Center.

Erica King and Casey Santoro led all scorers with 17 points apiece, while Paulina Hernandez scored 16 off the bench and Sarah Baker added 12. Youngstown State shot 39.1 percent from the field and knocked down a season-best 13 three-pointers in the win.

Milwaukee was led by
Cece McNair, who tallied a career-best 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
Grace Lomen added nine points, while
Jorey Buwalda finished with eight points and a team-high 13 rebounds.

Jada Williams knocked down a three-pointer from the left elbow to tie the score at three in the opening quarter before Youngstown State scored 12 unanswered points. A Lomen layup and a late three-pointer by
Madison Fitzgibbon made it 15-8 after one quarter.

The Penguins extended their lead to as many as 20 points in the second quarter, before another Lomen three in the final minute of the half made it a 37-20 game at the break.

Milwaukee put together its best stretch of the game early in the third quarter as Williams hit a three followed by a pair of free throws from Buwalda. Youngstown State answered with a three of its own, but a jumper by Lomen and a three-pointer by
Payton Rechlicz cut the deficit to 10 at 40-30.

The Panthers were unable to get any closer as the Penguins pulled away late for a 79-48 victory.

Williams and Fitzgibbon each finished with six points, with Williams also contributing three steals.

Milwaukee returns to action Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. (CT) at the UPMC Events Center against Robert Morris.
