Baseball Season Concludes in Horizon League Championship Round

DAYTON, Ohio – Wright State won the final two games of the 2025 Horizon League Baseball Championship on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Milwaukee Panthers by a 13-4 score in the opening game before clinching the league title by a 2-0 score in game two.
 
The loss ended the season for the Panthers won finished with 24 wins and in third place in the Horizon League – marking their first top-three finish in the conference since 2019.
 
"Today was a tough finish to a competitive Horizon League Championship for our team," said head coach Shaun Wegner. "We ultimately came up short of our goal, but I'm very proud of the way our team represented the university and the program."
 
Milwaukee placed three players on the All-Tournament team for their efforts throughout the week including infielder Tyler Bickers and outfielders Charlie Marion and Q Phillips.
 
"There are some really good people who did a lot of good things for us, and I want to make sure we recognize the seniors for all of their efforts throughout their careers," Wegner added.
 
Wright State's Patrick Fultz earned Tournament Most Valuable Player honors, finishing the Saturday doubleheader 8-for-9 with a walk, while scoring six runs and driving in four.
 
"Hats off to Wright State, who earned those two victories and the championship today," said Wegner. "I thought they executed well in all phases of the game and proved why they were the champions."
 
"While we lose some impact players," Wegner concluded. "I am excited to see where this program is going."
 
Game 1
Wright State scored first off Milwaukee starter Aric Ehmke. Fultz hit a home run for the Raiders, the first of his team-best five hits on the game.
 
In the bottom of the inning, Milwaukee evened the score when Marion singled to drive in Justin Hausser, who had reached on a fielder's choice.
 
The Raiders responded with six unanswered runs over the next three innings, before Caden Headlee broke the rally with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth.
 
Wright State added four more runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to extend its lead to 13-2.
 
In the bottom of the ninth Milwaukee scored twice. The first on an RBI double by Tristan Ellis and again on a run-scoring single by Bradyn Horn.
 
Ehmke went the first three innings before Keagon Kaufmann pitched the next 2 2/3 frames. Aiden Fishnick pitched a final. 3 1/3 innings and struck out three to close out the game.
 
Game 2
In the second game, Riley Peterson got his first start of the season and put together an effective four-inning performance, allowing just one run in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly.
 
The Panthers got runners on base in each of the first four innings but were unable to generate any offense to even the score.
 
Logan Schulfer entered in the bottom of the fifth and gave up a second Wright State run.
 
Tyler Deleskiewicz recorded up the final out of the sixth inning on one pitch before Logan Snow took the mound in the seventh.
 
Snow retired the Raiders in order in his first inning of work and stranded the bases loaded in the eighth to keep the deficit at two.
 
Milwaukee had one last attempt with a one-out single in the ninth but couldn't capitalize, as Wright State clinched the title.
