CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Milwaukee women's tennis team concluded a challenging road trip with a match at Cleveland State – the No. 1 team in the 2025 Horizon League Preseason Poll – dropping a 6-1 decision Sunday morning at Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
The Panthers (6-13, 0-3 Horizon League) were unfortunately playing shorthanded once again, falling 6-1 against the Vikings (9-9, 3-0 Horizon League), who have now won four consecutive overall and improved to 5-2 at home this season.
"Tough one against Cleveland State today," head coach
Mark Goldin said. "
Nikola Nikolajeva wasn't able to go today, so we had to move around the lineup. The girls fought hard, including a solid win for
Laure Razet at No. 2 singles. Now we have some time to rest and get back to full strength before next weekend."
CSU jumped on top from the opening, sweeping doubles to take the point.
In singles play, the Vikings held control on most courts, but
Laure Razet was the bright spot in picking up MKE's point on the day. She defeated Sima Heren 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8) at No. 2 singles for the impressive victory.
Up next, the Panthers return to the state but remain on the road, heading next to take on DePaul April 11 and Chicago State April 12.
