MILWAUKEE – Ryan Berghauer of the Milwaukee men's soccer team has been named to the Valeo Horizon League All-Academic Team, announced today by the league office.
The award is a career-first for Berghauer, who carries a perfect 4.0 grade-point average as a sophomore business major.
He has played a big role on the field from day one on campus, appearing in 18 of 19 games in the backline of the defense in 2024, helping the Panthers to the lowest team goals-against average in the league. This season, he has started all 17 games on defense, adding four points on a pair of goals on the offensive side of the field.
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests. An Honorable Mention team is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of votes, but did not make the All-Academic team.
