WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Milwaukee women's tennis team put on an impressive display over the weekend, claiming the top spots in both singles and doubles flights at the Whitewater Invitational played at the Warhawk Outdoor Tennis Center.
 
"The squad finished the fall competition off strong, dominating the Whitewater tournament," head coach Mark Goldin said. "I am excited about the amount of talent we have this year. Once we get everyone healthy, we are going to be a tough team to beat with the combination of talent and senior leadership on the team this year."
 
The Panthers battled against the host Warhawks, ITA-ranked Gustavus Adolphus, and NAIA foe Olivet Nazarene University. Most of the action was completed Friday, with just the doubles championship and singles semifinals left for Saturday.
 
"We had some great highlights on the weekend," Goldin said. "Nel Van Hout went undefeated – winning both A singles flight and all of her doubles matches. And Emilia Durska also undefeated in both singles and doubles."
 
On the singles side, Nel Van Hout continued her impressive fall debut, defeating Whitewater's Abigail Weaver handily, 6-0, 6-1, in the finals.
 
The teams split the doubles draw, each going 3-0. Van Hout teamed with Emilia Durska, while Nadiia Konieva and Sara Simonova also stayed perfect on the weekend.
 
That wraps up the fall for the squad, with Van Hout leading the way with 18 total victories (10-2 doubles/8-1 singles). Durska (12 on 4 singles/8 doubles), Konieva (9 on 5 singles/4 doubles), and Simonova (7-2 doubles) also highlighted the way as the team went 24-15 (.615) in singles matches overall and 18-9 (.667) in doubles play.
 
The schedule now takes a break until January, when dual season opens at Wisconsin Jan. 30.
