Hansen Grabs Historic Third Consecutive Batter of the Week Title

May 07, 2024

INDIANAPOLIS – For the third consecutive week, Carson Hansen has been selected as the Horizon League Batter of the Week as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.

This past week Hansen helped lead Milwaukee to a 4-1 overall record, including a 2-1 mark against Purdue Fort Wayne over the weekend. He led the Panthers with 10 RBIs as he was 9-for-19 at the plate (.474 batting average) with two doubles and one home run.

Hansen also scored a team-best eight runs on the week, as he walked three times for a .565 on-base percentage.

He continues to rank in the top-10 in several offensive categories, as he leads all Horizon League batters with 22 doubles. He is also fourth in the league with 58 RBIs and is tied for seventh with 10 home runs.

The selection was historic for Hansen, as he becomes just the second player to earn three-straight weekly offensive honors in the history of league, dating back to the inaugural season of league issuing weekly baseball awards in 1983; when it was then known as the Midwestern Collegiate Conference.

Hansen joins Keith Lillash of Cleveland State, who earned three-straight Player of the Week (precursor to Batter of the Week) titles from May 1-15, 2000.

Former Panther Jake Long is the only other player in league history to earn three consecutive weekly honors in the sport of baseball as he was named Pitcher of the Week from March 18-April 1, 2013.

Milwaukee is still on the road for its next five games beginning with non-conference Northwestern at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in nearby Evanston, Illinois. The trip continues with a key three-game league set against Oakland beginning on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. (CT).
