Kara Erdmann Earns AVCA All-North Region Honorable Mention Accolades

December 10, 2024

LEXINGTON, Ky. – On Tuesday, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its annual All-Region teams with Milwaukee junior libero Kara Erdmann selected to receive Honorable Mention accolades.

The honor is the first career selection for Erdmann, who becomes the first Panther to earn a spot on the All-Region team since Ari Miller was selected following the 2021 season.

Erdmann, who was named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and earned First Team All-League honors, put together a historic season for the Panthers that saw the Forreston, Illinois-native set single-season program marks with 719 digs and 5.85 digs per set over the teams 123 sets this year.

Both her digs and digs per set numbers also led the Horizon League and are both currently second among all Division I student-athletes. Through the team's 32 matches this season, Erdmann recorded double-digits in digs in all but two matches, including 13 performances of at least 25 digs, while also setting a Milwaukee single-match record of 47 against Wright State on Oct. 19.

The numbers boost Erdmann's career marks to 1,143 digs and a 3.93 dig per set mark through 83 career matches and 291 sets played.

In 2024, Erdmann added a career-best 126 assists in 2024, while also securing best marks in her career with two kills, and nine service aces.

Erdmann is one of three student-athletes from the Horizon League to earn All-Region honors, as teams are sorted by states and not conferences. Lauren Yacobucci of Wright State and Panna Ratkai of Purdue Fort Wayne were both named to the All-Midwest Region.

In addition to Ratkai and Yacobucci, the Panthers also faced off against All-Region selections from Loyola Marymount, Marquette, Southern Methodist, Stanford, UIC, and Wisconsin in 2024.

Milwaukee finished the season second in the Horizon League with a 15-3 mark to go along with a 20-12 overall record.
