Women's Basketball Signing Day 2024-25

Women's Basketball Introduces Trio of Signees for Incoming Recruiting Class

November 18, 2024

MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee women's basketball head coach Kyle Rechlicz has announced the signing of three student-athletes, who will join the team beginning with the 2025-26 season.

Set to wear the Black & Gold will be Elizabeth Favret of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Madison Fitzgibbon of Mequon, Wisconsin, and Olivia Olson of Cuba City, Wisconsin.

"We are excited to announce the signing of Lizzie, Madison and Olivia," commented Rechlicz. "They all bring different skill sets to Milwaukee and will fill some necessary roles for us here in the future. The one thing they all have in common is their determination to improve and their competitiveness. Each of them comes from amazing families whose value systems fit our team culture. We are thrilled that these families are joining our Panther family."

Favret makes her way to Milwaukee from Shaker Heights, Ohio, where she was a two-sport athlete with the Raiders as a member of the basketball and soccer teams. This past season, Favret averaged a double-double, after helping the team to back-to-back runner up finishes in the Lake Erie League in Ohio.

In 2023-24, Favret earned Northeast Ohio Honorable Mention Accolades and earned her second consecutive First Team All-Conference honors. The regional and All-Conference honors came off the heels of Favret's selection as Team Most Valuable Player in each of the past two years. She also plays for Mac Basketball Select 40, based out of Cleveland.

Academically Favret is a high honors student in high school. She is currently intending to earn a business degree while studying at Milwaukee.

"Lizzie will bring size and depth to our post position," noted Rechlicz. "She is going to be a fun surprise in the Horizon League because not a lot of people know about her … yet! She is a three-level scorer at 6'3" and her ability to shoot the three will be valuable in our pick-and-pop system. She is also a great rim protector and rebounder.  I know that she is hungry to improve and wants to take on the challenge of proving a lot of people wrong."

Fitzgibbon will begin her senior season at nearby Homestead High School in Mequon, where she has been a member of three-straight North Shore Conference Championships with the Highlanders. Individually she has averaged 19 points per game and just over three assists and three rebounds per contest.

After earning All-State Honorable Mention honors as both a freshman and sophomore, she earned her first All-State nod this past season as a junior. She has earned conference Player of the Year honors twice in her three seasons in high school and has been a First Team All-Conference selection throughout her time with the Highlanders, while also serving as a team captain. She also plays for the Wisconsin Lakers, based in Wales, Wisconsin.

Currently averaging a 3.9 grade-point average in high school, Fitzgibbon intends to study business upon starting her academic career at Milwaukee.

"Madison was our first commitment in the 2025 class and she has been somebody that we have been recruiting since seventh grade," said Rechlicz on Fitzgibbon. "Our ultimate goal is to keep the best players in the area at home and Madison is definitely one of those players, not just in the area but in the state. Her ability to shoot deep range will help us stretch the defense and provide great opportunities for our driving guards and post players. She also has experience at running the point which will prove to be beneficial in our transition system. She is an incredibly hard worker and will fight to make an impact early in her career."

Olson makes her way to Milwaukee from Cuba City High School, where she has been a two-sport athlete for the Cubans with letters in both basketball and volleyball. Over the past two years, on the basketball court she has helped lead the team to a staggering 50-7 record. As a junior, she averaged better than 21 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game, helping lead the team to a silver ball at the WIAA State Championship in 2023-24.

Individually, she has been a First Team All-State honoree as both a sophomore and junior, after honorable mention All-State honors as a freshman. This past year she was also an AP All-State Honorable Mention and the Telegraph Herald Player of the Year, while earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the state championship. Olson has been a two-time Most Valuable Player in the SWAL and been a First Team All-League selection throughout high school. She has also been a team captain with the Cubans, while also playing basketball with the Wisconsin Flight Elite, based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

A member of the National Honor Society, and a multiple-time Academic All-State selection, Olson is currently undecided in terms of her intended major at Milwaukee at this time.

"We knew with Jada [Donaldson] graduating at the end of the season that we were going to need to fill a big void at the point guard position … Olivia fits our style of play to a T and the best part is that she will get to learn from Kamy [Peppler] for a year as well," Rechlicz added. "Her high basketball IQ and confidence on the offensive end will lead to some fun basketball for the fans. She is also extremely competitive and comes from a successful basketball family. She knows how to win and that will benefit us throughout her career here."
