INDIANAPOLIS – For the second time this season the Horizon League has recognized Milwaukee freshman forward
Jorey Buwalda as the league's Freshman of the Week.

Buwalda put together a successful road trip for the Panthers as she averaged a double-double on the week with 16.5 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per contest. She secured her second double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds as she helped the Panthers to a conference win over Northern Kentucky.

The Randolph-native shot 64.3 percent from the field with nine makes on 14 attempts, while also going 1-for-3 from beyond the arc. Buwalda got to the line a season-best 11 times on Sunday, and converted on eight free throws and has a season average of 82.7 percent from the line, good enough for fourth-best in the Horizon League among players that qualify.

On the glass, Buwalda is 13th-best in the league with an average of 5.9 per contest, while she is ninth in the league in total rebounding with 100 through her first 17 collegiate contests.

Thus far on her freshman campaign, Buwalda has played in all the team's contests with seven starts and averages just shy of 19 minutes per game. She has converted on 43-of-90 from the field (47.8%) and has 33 offensive, and 67 defensive rebounds. She also has 16 assists, six blocks, and 13 steals with 14 regular season games remaining on the year.

This is Buwalda's second honor, after earning the title of Freshman of the Week earlier this season on
November 27.

Milwaukee resumes Horizon League play on Thursday morning for its annual 'School Day' game presented by Educators Credit Union. The game against Robert Morris will tip at 11:00 a.m. inside the Klotsche Center.
