MILWAUKEE – Evelina Anastasi has signed to play for the Milwaukee women's tennis team, head coach
Ryan Kucera announced today.
Anastasi, who comes from of Limassol, Cyprus, will be an incoming freshman.
"We are delighted to welcome Evelina to the Panther Tennis Family," Kucera said. "She is a great fit for us all around. On the court, she's a strong ball striker with a great technical foundation. She's one of the top junior players in Cyprus, has been a consistent presence on their national team, and has international competition experience."
Anastasi is currently ranked No. 2 in the Cypress National rankings and has been a member of the Cyprus National Team throughout all age categories. She has won multiple titles at the Cyprus Tennis Federation Championship Tournaments between the U18 Women's category and is a four-time quarterfinalist at other ITF Juniors competitions (2x singles/2x doubles).
"Off the court, Evelina also sets herself apart," Kucera said. "She's a kind, mature, responsible young person, and that shows in her excellent academic resume. Of equal importance, she shows a desire to grow and to be a part of our family! I am confident she will thrive in our excellent team environment."
Other notable career achievements for Anastasi include an ITF career-high singles ranking of 1492 and a career-high UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) of 8.07. She was also a semifinalist at Al-Zahra Kuwait ITF Juniors Tournament.
