MILWAUKEE – Anika Tylek and
Babette Burgersdijk of the Milwaukee tennis team have been named to the Horizon League Valeo All-Academic Team, announced today by the league office.
The honor is a career first for both student-athletes and marks the second consecutive season that the Panthers have had two players on the squad.
Tylek, a 4.0 student in the Masters of Business Administration program at UWM, is a four-year member of the tennis program and has recorded 40 career singles wins and 31 career doubles victories. A regular member of the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll and Dean's List, Tylek has claimed 10 singles wins this season to go along with a 7-4 doubles ledger.
Burgersdijk, a Marketing and Human Resources double-major with a 3.91 GPA in the classroom, made the jump to No. 1 singles and doubles this season after competing primarily from No. 5 singles a year ago. A Horizon League Academic Honor Roll member and Dean's List honoree, the two-year member of the program has recorded 10 singles and 11 doubles victories so far in the 2022-23 campaign.

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for the Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.
