MILWAUKEE – Coming off the 2023 Horizon League regular-season and tournament championships and headed to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth year in a row, the Milwaukee women's soccer program has welcomed a group of 10 new student-athletes following Wednesday's official "National Signing Day" event.
Sophia Anuat of Santee, Calif., Caroline Boeckman of Phoenix, Ariz., Ashlyn Derosier of Lakeville, Minn., Lydia Herald of Fort Wayne, Ind., Abby Kuehnl of Maricopa, Ariz., Brinlee McNabb of Lockport, Ill., Kennedy Patterson of Boise, Idaho, Taylor Richards of Chicago, Ill., Genevieve Wilson of Lake Geneva, Wis., and Natalie Zodrow of Lockport, Ill., have all signed National Letters of Intent and are set to join the Panthers for next season, announced today by head coach
Kevin Boyd.
"We are really excited about this class," Boyd said. "We have four backs, three mids, and three forwards in this class, so it is quite deep across the board. We will definitely have players in it that will challenge immediately for starting spots next fall, as well as adding tremendous depth to our squad which is something we have been focused on. In addition, this particular class has speed and we have been trying to increase our team speed. It hits everything we were looking for – we couldn't be happier and we are excited for them to join us next fall."
Anuat plays for her Santana (CA) High School team and also with her Rebels ECNL club squad and has helped her teams win at every level, including state championships, regional championships, as well as a USYS National Champion, and ECNL Champions League Qualifier. Named to the First-Team Grossmont All-Conference squad as a junior (as a repeat honoree), she has been a varsity starter each season. Captain of both her high school and ECNL teams, Anuat helped her Sanatana squad to its first undefeated league season as a freshman and was voted Rookie of the Year. An ODP Invite at the club level, Anuat has also been awarded MVP and Offensive Player of the Year honors and was selected to the ECNL's Southwest All Conference Team.
Boeckman is a senior at Xavier College Preparatory School in Phoenix, Ariz., and has an extensive club background dating back over a decade. She has been a club team captain with SC Del Sol since 2017 and was selected for the Girls Academy National Talent ID in 2022, was a Girls Academy Team representative in 2023 and 2021, a three-time (2021-2023) Girls Academy Southwest Talent ID selection, as well as U14 & U16 YNT ID (2022 and 2020).
Derosier was a four-year starter at Apple Valley (MN) High School, capping her career with a repeat spot on the Minnesota Class AAA All-State Soccer Team. Derosier was a team captain her final campaign, leading the conference with her 14 goals and nine assists from her spot in the midfield. Each of her final three seasons she earned South Suburban All-Conference honors as well as being named the Team MVP. That followed her picking up Rookie of the Year and Honorable Mention South Suburban accolades as a freshman. A Section 3AAA All-Academic Team selection, she is a member of the National Honor Society. On the club side, Derosier played six seasons for the Minnesota Thunder Academy in the Elite Clubs National League, qualifying for the ECNL Champions League each season. She led her team to the 2019 Minnesota State Cup and third place at the USYS Midwest Regional. The 2019 MTA U13 Sportswoman of the Year, she claimed the 2021 ECNL Midwest Conference Championship and traveled to Sweden in 2023 with her MTA U17 team and won the Gothia Cup/U17 Puma Elita Division Championship.
Herald capped her career at Northrop High School with a huge season, earning First Team Indiana Soccer Coaches Association All-State honors after setting a school record with 42 goals scored (42G/4A) this fall. The Summit Athletic Conference girls soccer Player of the Year also picked up a repeat spot on the all-district team and a third consecutive selection to the SAC First-Team All-Conference squad. Herald led the Bruins to a conference and sectional title as a senior, breaking the school record for career goals early in the season on her way to finishing her career with 116. Named the 'top team player' each year of her career, she was named ISCA All-Academic in 2023 and finished her prep career with over 250 points. Her junior season saw her score 71 points (31G/9A), which followed 54 as a sophomore (25G/4A) and 44 (18G/8A) as a freshman. On the club side, she led Fort Wayne United to the Indiana State Cup Championship in 2023 and 2021 and was a USYS Midwest Regionals semifinalist in 2023 as well. She attended the USYNT ID Camp in 2022, as well as the GA Mid-America Conference Talent ID Camp the past two years and was the recipient of the Fort Wayne United leadership award in 2023.
Kuehnl is a senior at Maricopa High School in Maricopa, Ariz., who led her team to a West Valley Region Championship last year as a junior. A team captain, she was named 6A West Valley Player of the Year, second-team all-conference, and to the all-academic team. Voted the Team MVP and Pinal County Player of the Week during the season, Kuehnl made the all-academic team and was second-team all-region as a sophomore. That followed a freshman campaign on the varsity squad at Heritage Academy Maricopa where her team won state and she was awarded with the CAC Varsity Soccer Player of the Year. A team captain again this season, she has started every game of her high school career, accumulating 27 goals and 14 assists from her spot in the midfield. On the club side, she currently plays for Arsenal ECNL but also played previously for AZSC, where her team was State Cup runner-ups twice and APL Champions.
McNabb is a senior at Lockport Township High School and has been named Southwest Suburban All-Conference twice, including last spring as a junior. A two-time team captain, McNabb was selected for the 2023 Porter Pride Sportsmanship Award and her team picked up the 2023 NSCAA Team All-Academic Award. On the club side, she plays for Chicago Inter, where she is a two-time Illinois State Cup Champion (2021 & 2019), as well as a three-time state runner-up. She also helped her team claim the 2020 Midwest Conference Championship and finish as a 2022 USYS National Semifinalist. On an individual side, McNabb was named to the Fall 2020 "Club v. Club Best XI".
Patterson is a senior at Capital (ID) High School, playing soccer for her India Chicas FC 06 Club team. A 2020 Inter-Regional Invitee, she helped India Chicas to the 2021 Idaho State Championship and a quarterfinalist in the 2021 Far West Regionals, as well as the No. 12 ranking in 2022. She also was a member of the 2023 and 2022 Champions League (Girls Academy League). A multi-sport athlete, Patterson does compete for her Capital High School track team, where she was selected for the "Outstanding Track Athlete Award" and was an Idaho 5A State Meet 400m finalist. She is the school record-holder in the 400m as well as the 4x200 relay and was named "Most Improved" in 2022.
Richards attends high school at Loyola Academy, where she is an honors student and will be playing in the Spring of 2024, and has enjoyed an extensive and successful club career with her Chicago FC United Girls Academy 2006 Team. She helped her squad to the round of 16 at the academy national playoffs last year and is one of the leading scorers on her club team. A seven-time captain, Richards was selected to the Midwest Talent ID Camp and is a Mid-America Girls Academy two-time Division winner.
Wilson is a senior at Badger High School in Lake Geneva, Wis., and has earned back-to-back selections to the Southern Lakes All-Conference First-Team. A four-year varsity member, she was selected as Team MVP after a sophomore season in which she recorded 18 goals and nine assists and was then named "Most Dedicated" after a junior season in which she tallied 11 goals and five assists. On the club side, her extensive career began with the Allegheny Force Football Club (PA) as well as time with SC Wave Wisconsin and the Rockford Raptors. Wilson has made the Wisconsin ODP State Team four seasons in a row (2020-2023), went to the 2022 USYS National Championships, and recently claimed the Illinois State Cup with Crystal Lake Force. She was also invited to the 2023 Midwest ODP ID Event.
Zodrow also plays for Lockport Township High School, where she was named an IHSA All-Sectional player and helped her team to a school-record for victories as a junior. Named ECNL-RL Heartland All-Conference on the club side where she plays for Chicago Inter and is a team captain, Zodrow helped her team to the semifinals of the ECNL-RL playoffs. Named to the Chicagoland Soccer All-State Watch List, her high school team was selected for the NSCAA Team All- Academic Award.
"This is a bigger class and one of the reasons for that is that with this COVID 'mystery' of never really knowing who is going to come back and who isn't – you have to always be prepared and if they all leave we have to be ready," Boyd stated.
