First-year head coach
Kevin Boyd announced the full schedule today.
The team once again took the program to even bigger heights a year ago, finishing 19-2 overall while advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before being eliminated in a heartbreaking 2-0 loss to No. 2 Virginia. In addition, the Panthers claimed their sixth regular-season championship in the past seven years with an unblemished 11-0 conference record but will need to be ready for the challenge this fall, following significant roster turnover due to graduation and transfer.
The 2022 campaign gets underway with a pair of exhibition matches, starting with a matchup with DePaul Aug. 7. A return trip to Chicago to take on Loyola awaits Aug. 13 to wrap up the season tune-ups.
The regular season gets started with a tough task, hitting the road to take on a Wake Forest squad that went 16-6 last fall and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
It's back to Wisconsin for the next contest, seeing Marquette back on the schedule for a trip to Valley Fields Aug. 25.
The home opener follows, with Milwaukee welcoming Lindenwood – a program transitioning to the NCAA Division I level and the Ohio Valley Conference – to Engelmann Stadium Aug. 28.
Non-league play concludes with a three-game stretch away from home, traveling to take on Western Illinois (11-6-1 last year) Sept. 2 and Illinois State Sept. 4. The final matchup before Horizon League play opens up pits the Panthers at Wisconsin, taking on a Badger squad that advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament last fall, knocked out by defending champ Santa Clara to conclude a 10-6-6 campaign.
Conference action starts at Wright State Sept. 15, with a pair of home games to follow. MKE welcomes Robert Morris Sept. 18 and Cleveland State Sept. 22 before starting another road swing.
September closes at Youngstown State Sept. 25, followed by a date at Purdue Fort Wayne Oct. 1.
Three of the final five games of the regular season will be in the comforts of home, while also taking on teams that finished 2-3-4 in last year's standings over the final stretch, following a home contest against Detroit Mercy Oct. 13.
The Panthers will be battle-tested to conclude the campaign, travelling to Northern Kentucky Oct. 16. The Norse went 7-4 in league play to take third, part of a 10-8-2 campaign. Then, it's back home to face Oakland Oct. 22, hosting a Golden Grizzlies program that went 9-1-1 in conference last year to finish second, part of a 11-9-1 season overall.
The regular-season then concludes at Green Bay Oct. 26, taking on a Phoenix squad that recorded an 8-3-6 ledger overall, including a fourth-place 4-2-5 conference campaign.
