'SMILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee tennis team will wrap up the regular season Saturday as the Panthers host the Oakland Golden Grizzlies at 1 p.m. from Elite – River Glen.
LAST TIME OUT: The Panthers took on the top two teams of the league last weekend, falling to both Cleveland State and Youngstown State moving to 7-13 and 2-3 in Horizon League play.
Freshman
Avery Durham reached double digits (10) with a win over Youngstown State's Jessica Stanmore 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9).
ABOUT THE GOLDEN GRIZZLIES: Oakland is 2-2 in league play and 8-8 overall entering Saturday's match against the Panthers. Saturday's match will be a fight for the No. 4 seed, where Oakland currently sits in fourth, while the Panthers in fifth. The Golden Grizzlies will still have to face UIC on Sunday to complete HL play.
Oakland is currently riding a two-match win streak with wins over IUPUI and Northern Kentucky.
Freshman Liza Mladentseva leads the Golden Grizzlies with a 9-4 overall record and 3-1 Horizon League record. Mladentseva has competed primarily from the No. 1 singles line, and is on a six-match win streak with doubles partner Jillian Milano.
A year ago, almost to the date, the Panthers took down the Grizzlies 6-1 and are 9-4 overall against each other.
