MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee tennis team hit the road this weekend for a pair of conference duals at Cleveland State and Youngstown State.
The Panthers will take on Cleveland State Friday, April 15 at 4 p.m. (CT) followed by a 3 p.m. (CT) match the next day at Youngstown State.
LAST TIME OUT: The Panthers (7-11, 2-1) are coming off a loss to league leaders UIC, but the Panthers remain in the top-six with wins over IUPUI and Northern Kentucky the previous weekend.
Senior
Mayya Perova collected her 15
th win on the season and improved to 15-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
SCOUTING CLEVELAND STATE: The CSU Vikings currently sit in third place in the Horizon League standings with a 10-10 overall record and 3-0 league record. The Vikings have defeated Oakland, IUPUI and Northern Kentucky to start conferene play.
The Vikings have three with double digit wins and Tereze Vevere, Oihane Vicario and Bethany Yauch are combined for 37 of the 61 dual wins for CSU. Freshman Vicario is 12-8 – all from the No. 1 singles line, while classmate Vevere comes in at 11-9 between the No. 3 and No. 5 lines. Sophomore Bethany Yauch comes in at 14-6 in dual play and 21-10 overall from the No. 5 and No. 6 lines primarily.
ABOUT YOUNGSTOWN STATE: The Penguins are 9-8 overall and 3-0 in the conference. YSU is currently on a four-match win streak with wins over Duquesne, Oakland, Northern Kentucky and IUPUI. They will face UIC before they host the Panthers Saturday.
Freshman Julia Marko enters the weekend with a six-match win streak and is 20-10 overall and 12-5 in dual play. Marko has competed from the No. 3 singles line all season.
Marko is paired with senior Cecilia Rosas in doubles and the pair are 17-8 overall, 8-5 in dual and 0-2 in league play. Overall, the Penguins come in at 24-23 in doubles.

SEASON AWARDS: Last week,
Avery Durham and
Mayya Perova were named Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week for their performances over IUPUI and Northern Kentucky. This marks the first accolade the duo have earned this season.
Perova has also collected the league award for Singles Player of the Week back on March 12, while sophomore duo
Greta Carbone and
Iva Stejskalova earned the weekly award twice this season.
