MEQUON, Wis. – The Milwaukee baseball team got the bats going early and eight pitchers combined to shutout Concordia Wisconsin 15-0 on Wednesday afternoon. It marked the Panthers' first home game of the season despite being held at Kapco Park.
The double-digit run total marks the first time Milwaukee has scored at least 10 runs in three straight wins since 2018.
"Fortunate to get the game in. We got a bunch of guys in that we've been trying to get in games, we just haven't been able to," head coach
Scott Doffek said. "That was the most positive part of the day is some of the guys getting the opportunity."
The Panthers (8-8) saw 15 different position players in addition to the eight pitchers in the game.
"I like the way the arms came in and for the most part, threw strikes," Doffek commented. "We played solid defense behind them and kept the line moving offensively."
Logan Schulfer set the tone early on the mound, striking out four and allowing just two hits in 2.0 innings pitched as he earned the win.
Andrew Neu,
Curtis Sheahan, and
James Severson each recorded two strikeouts in their inning of work.
Milwaukee tacked on three runs in three of the first four innings led by
Mark Connelly with two hits and two RBI and
Aaron Chapman, who drove in three as the Panthers took a 9-0 lead.
Ty Olejnik reached base for the fourth time in the seventh, bringing in one run while
Quinton Morris singled in a pair and
Nathan Ebersole made it 12-0 with a sacrifice fly to center.
In the eighth,
Jacob Kaiser and
Zach Nogalski each recorded RBI doubles to cap the scoring at 15-0.
Six different Panthers had multiple hits for MKE including Kaiser with two doubles.
Tommy Benson reached base three times and hit his second homer in as many games.
Milwaukee will next host Northern Kentucky this weekend in a three-game series beginning on Friday, April 1 at 3:00 pm. Live coverage links available on
