Panthers Edged at Penn State on Saturday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.  – Penn State answered a three-run fourth inning by the Milwaukee baseball team with two runs of its own as the Panthers fell 4-3 on Saturday evening.

"I thought Eliot [Turnquist] did a fantastic job settling that game down and giving us a chance," head coach Scott Doffek said. "We just couldn't get anything going against their arms and you have to give some of the credit to their bullpen."

The Nittany Lions (7-9 overall) got to Milwaukee starter Nick Gilhaus for runs in the second and third before Milwaukee got on the board in the fourth.

The Panthers (5-8 overall) took advantage of Penn State miscues and scored three runs on one hit and pulled ahead 3-2.

Penn State answered, however, plating one on a single and another on a sacrifice fly to regain the lead, 4-3.

MKE managed just two hits the rest of the way as it fell in game two of the series.

Eliot Turnquist was solid in relief for Milwaukee, allowing just one hit in four scoreless innings. He struck out four while waking one out of the bullpen.

Nick Gilhaus was charged with the loss, striking out four and allowing three earned runs in 4.0 innings of work.

Aaron Chapman, Quinton Morris, and Zach Nogalski each recorded  a hit for MKE.

"Have to find a way to come out and salvage one tomorrow. One Excited for another opportunity," Doffek commented.

The two teams will wrap up the series tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 10:00 am from Medlar Field.
